KCTCS Honors Outstanding Faculty and Staff at New Horizons Awards Banquet held May 18

Fifty Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) faculty and staff members were recognized at the New Horizons (an annual conference for KCTCS faculty and staff) awards banquet held May 18 at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville. The selection process is not an easy task Each year the President’s Leadership Seminar graduates spend hours reviewing portfolios submitted by the college nominees.

Versailles, KY (Advertiser Talk) 13-Aug-2009 — Fifty Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) faculty and staff members were recognized at the New Horizons (an annual conference for KCTCS faculty and staff) awards banquet held May 18 at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville. Each of the 16 KCTCS colleges selected an outstanding staff member, faculty member and support staff for 2009. Two staff members from the KCTCS System Office in Versailles were also honored. Three of the 50 faculty and staff also received statewide honors. Dave Cazalet, director of public relations at Somerset Community College (SCC), was honored as the 2009 Administrative Staff Award of Excellence recipient; Margo Hamm, professor, librarian at Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) was honored as the Faculty System Award of Excellence recipient and Angela Henes, staff assistant at Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) was honored as the Support Staff Award of Excellence. Cazalet, Hamm and Henes each received $1,000 to be used for the professional development experience of their choice.

“The selection process is not an easy task,” said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall. “Each year the President’s Leadership Seminar graduates spend hours reviewing portfolios submitted by the college nominees.”

Each nominee demonstrated leadership in every aspect of their lives, including community involvement, student outreach, professional development and support for their college.
